August is an auspicious month for the South African Capoeira Foundation.
Keeping with the honouring of ‘Womens Month’ & to celebrate O Dia do Capoeirista (Capoeirista Day), the Foundation will be hosting the 1st African screening of “Rhythmic Uprising” otherwise known as Insurreição Rítmica”
Rhythmic Uprising is a documentary that shows how vibrant Afro-Brazilian performing arts are used to fight racism, social exclusion, and poverty in Bahia, Brazil. The film outlines the transformative powers of a large movement of community cultural projects that make up the latest chapter in a creative struggle for racial equality that began four centuries ago.
The Foundation is also blessed to have Dr. Carrasco (Sociology PhD) & Mr Cazarin (Sociology Master)which will present a short talk on the film and its cultural context and its connection with South Africa
